Global Green Solutions personnel are pioneers in greenhouse gas emission reduction projects and technologies, and national and global GHG policiesThis page contains website references to material that will provide more specific details on global GHG emission reduction policies and Global Green Solutions eco-technologies- how they are applied and the results achieved. In most cases, the material will be in an Adobe Acrobat format for easy download. In many cases, the hyperlink will take you to a different website. Please remember that Global Green Solutions endeavors to link you to accurate information, but assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of material on other websites. U.S. EPA Natural Gas STAR Technology The U.S. EPA sponsors the Natural Gas STAR program. Through this program, EPA works with companies that produce, process, transmit and distribute natural gas to identify and promote the implementation of cost-effective technologies and best practices to reduce emissions of methane. Natural Gas STAR, in cooperation with the Methane-to-Markets Partnership is working with companies in major gas producing countries to reduce methane emissions internationally. Global Green Solutions acquired the assets and key personnel of Sealweld International who were early participants in developing and applying new technologies and best practices both in the U.S. and internationally. The main link to the U.S. EPA Gas STAR Program site includes Russian and Spanish translations of web site content Global Green Solutions personnel successfully implemented the valve leak survey and fix at El Paso Natural Gas (PDF, 990 kb), which contributed significantly to the documented emission reductions. Global Green Solutions personnel were also instrumental in the development of several EPA Gas STAR best practices for example: Directed Inspection and Maintenance at Gate Stations and Surface Facilities (PDF, 203 kb), and Directed Inspection and Maintenance at Compressor Stations (PDF, 322 kb). Our unique expertise in this area has allowed us to continue to enhance and refine these best practices as the basis for our own eco-technologies and services. UK Technology The UK has always been a leader in the areas of safety and the environment, and they were early to recognize the opportunities presented by emissions trading systems. Global Green Solutions technology was instrumental in generating substantial and profitable early emissions credits from UK projects which were ultimately traded on the UK credit market. Our valve integrity technical solutions have been integrated into the standard operating practice of a leading global oil and gas company who acknowledge in their valve maintenance handbook that leaky valves are the biggest methane problem in oil and gas systems.International Project Implementation Experience Global Green Solution personnel were the first to quantify the methane emissions reduction opportunity from pipeline valve leaks, particularly at compressor stations. We participated in the Rusagas Fugitive Gas Capture Project in the Russian Republic. This project was implemented under United Nations Kyoto Protocol mechanisms. Hugh Chisholm, who led the efforts on this project, is widely acknowledged as a leading expert in valve operations and maintenance in oil and gas operations.. Hugh manages Global Green Solutions operations in Houston, TX. The project results indicate: 1. A large methane emissions problem from valve leaks and 2. Global Green Solutions' unique technical solution to reduce those emissions. The project report also highlights the importance of training and technology transfer to sustain the emissions reductions. Recognizing this reality, Global Green Solutions developed a highly effective training and technology transfer program. We were part of the 1st U.S. EPA-sponsored technology transfer to Russian Federation through U.S/Gazprom Working Group- Reducing GHG Emissions Through Technology Transfer (PDF, 386 kb). Our demonstration project successfully showed how state-of-the-art emission abatement technologies could be applied to Russian gas facilities by working side-by-side with local engineers in the classroom and in the field. Global Green Solutions principals authored a widely-referenced Fugitive Emissions Reduction article in Pipeline & Gas in Aug 1999. Sealing system helps detect leaks, curb fugitive emissions (PDF, 3.5 Mb) defines an early application of Global Green Solutions valve sealing system methodology. Information acquired through the sealing system can be used to create a detailed valve service history archive. Utilizing the complete Global Green methodology, this archive forms the basis for a comprehensive maintenance program to reduce conventional leak points, test system integrity, and control fugitive emissions. Global GHG Emissions Reductions Policies and Protocols ![]() Global Green Solutions and our partners participate in global policy forums, as well as with the specific governments where we operate, to insure new policies reflect the reality of our in-depth understanding of GHG emissions reduction technologies and economics in oil and gas applications. For example, our personnel have participated in the United Nations Working Party on Gas since 1995. |
