| | Demonstration plant activities are currently focused on preparing for the upcoming Aera-specified performance test. Specifically, the operations team is working on optimizing the start-up sequence (the test specification requires a number of start-ups and shutdowns), optimizing dryer performance to insure the fuel is dried to target moisture content using waste heat, and optimizing process conditions in the advanced energy conversion unit to deliver ultra-low emissions.
In the picture to the right, Greensteam lead operator Garrett Estes uses a portable operations workstation to monitor process conditions during optimization testing. Greensteam is a precisely controlled process, and the operators use the workstations to safely and efficiently run the plant.
To the left is a supply of typical agricultural biomass on the receiving pad prior to sizing and drying in the Greensteam system. The vapor cloud in the background is from Greensteam generated steam diverted to a blow down tank, the normal practice during unit testing. |
